If you happen to be nearby, you should take the time to check out this place.

There were lots of markings on the side of the hill. Very interesting. I've never seen so many clustered in one spot.

In general just be respectful and enjoy the view.

3 Stay on the path. (Plenty of signs to remind you of this one.)

1 No pets.

It was ok. I definitely would not say this is a must see. It is a if you have time and nothing else to do and are looking for something to do with your time. You drive 11 miles off the highway, park, walk around a big rock that has sacred drawings mixed with graffiti, get in your car and drive 11 miles back to the road. It takes more time to drive there than to walk around it. If you put alot of hope in this structure you may be disappointed. And I say this as a nature lover and as a history preservationists believer.

Also, there are numerous picnic tables (with grills) in the vicinity, a few of which are even under shelters, and there is a latrine. A mere $2 per car is requested, and there is even a campground nearby.

I love that efforts have been made to preserve these, and appreciated the chance to learn about them. This site is 11 miles off the beaten path, so if you're expecting more than a pile of volcanic rock written/drawn on by this land's indigenous peoples, you could be disappointed. If you have no expectations, it's a nice peek into a time before Europeans overran the land.

Just a couple of rules before you go.

Well worth it as a break after you've a long road trip. There is no water here but there are bathrooms and a campground. There also is honor box fee of like 2 dollars. If you go past this exit, take it, it is a great reward. Please, respect our human cultural resources and DO NOT vandalize or try to "improve" the petroglyphs.

My brother and I found this place during a cross country try trip from San Diego to Virgina.

2 Do not pick up or touch the rocks.
